The Frozen Wilds introduced six new weapons for Aloy, with three being the Banuk variant of the Hunter, Sharpshot, and War Bows. These were more powerful shots when fully drawn, while the other three weapons were heavier: the Forgegire, Icerail, and Stormslinger. The Forgegire and Icerail resemble flamethrowers with their first respective ammo type, with their secondary being a projectile of either fire or ice to cause damage. The Stormslinger fired charged bolts which caused Shock and damage.

Potential New Elemental Weapons for Burning Shores
No information has been released regarding new weapons in Burning Shores, but that doesn’t stop the pondering what may be shown. However, it may be unlikely to see further bow variant upgrades, as NG+ already did this with Horizon Forbidden West’s Legendary weapons. Instead, the likelihood of introducing new types of weapons seems strong, especially with new dangers to face, like the Horus from the trailer.
With access to more technology from Far Zenith and GAIA in possession of Apollo, players may see that knowledge leads to a new type of arsenal. For elemental-type weapons, which could further explore the new ammo types, fans may see something akin to an Elemental Rocket Launcher. This launcher could pack a potent burst of elemental damage, instantly filling the intended target into the respective ammo state, heavily afflicting machines nearby in a certain radius.
Furthermore, while swords have been seen used by multiple members of the Carja, such as Talanah, Amadis, and different guards, Aloy’s melee weapon has been her spear. With exposure to information from the 21st century and Far Zenith on Sirius, it’s possible an item resembling an Elemental Coated Sword could be made. Something like this, which may be coated with different elemental ammo types, can affect the machines surrounding Aloy as the weapon delivers the element and its coat splashing to nearby enemies.
Players saw great Shock and damage delivered through the Stormslinger in The Frozen Wilds. It’s possible that type of energy can be manipulated for more significant damage while firing from a smaller weapon like an Energy-Based Hand Cannon. The Storm Bolt from the Stormslinger was crafted with Sparkers and Echo Shells. Still, potentially with the energy used by Far Zenith, a charged Hand Canon can be used to deal heavy electrical energy damage, inflicting a Shocked state as well more powerful than traditional Shock.
Potential Target and Drone Technology for Burning Shores
We’ve seen explosion ammo and damage in Horizon Forbidden West through the Spike Thrower - a ranged weapon that must be fully drawn to penetrate armor. Some have Explosive Spikes, which detonate shortly after impact. With more advanced technology possibly at Aloy and her allies’ disposal, players may encounter a weapon akin to Drone Sniper utilizing an actual scope. This could be a more modernized version of a Sharpshot bow with ammo that can splinter into several units and track targets.
More forms of advanced targeting technology could be introduced by advancing the power of the Focus, perhaps with the same technology used to construct virtual reality for Far Zenith. The Focus is known for target imaging already, but with superior tech, it could be used in conjunction with large drones for massive damage akin to missiles. With a Horus looking to appear in Burning Shores, Aloy will need all the heavy weaponry she can muster to tackle such a beast.
Horizon Forbidden West is available now for PS4 and PS5.
