The House of the Dead originally came out in 1996 for arcade systems. With five main installments and several spin-offs, The House of the Dead is a staple in most arcades and is still popular almost 30 years after its first installment. In April 2021, MegaPixel Studio and Forever Entertainment announced The House of the Dead Remake, a new version of the original game with better graphics and new features. A year later, The House of the Dead Remake came to the Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

In a new trailer on its YouTube channel, Forever Entertainment announced the PlayStation 5 version of The House of the Dead Remake. While this game keeps the core gameplay and storyline of the 1996’s shooter, The House of the Dead Remake comes with new features and modern controls to improve the overall user experience. On top of introducing this new port, the publisher revealed the release date of The House of the Dead Remake PS5 version to be January 20, 2023.
The House of the Dead Remake retains the original gameplay of the rail-shooter, with players having to kill various creatures from undead to gargoyle-like mutants. This remake brings a new game mode on top of the original campaign and its multiple endings, where hordes of zombies assault the player. The graphics and performance of The House of the Dead Remake were adjusted to the PlayStation 5, with a gallery showcasing the defeated enemies and bosses and a list of achievements giving additional goals to players.
In the comments to this new trailer for The House of the Dead Remake on PlayStation 5, several fans wondered if this new port would support the PS Move controllers. While Forever Entertainment didn’t provide any official answer, PS Move controllers may be compatible with The House of the Dead Remake on PlayStation 5 as the game supports gyro motion controls and the PlayStation 4 version works with these controllers. With the evolution in eye-tracking technologies, some players are hoping for a PS VR2 port of The House of the Dead Remake with the gun automatically pointing to wherever the player is looking, but neither developer MegaPixel Studio nor publisher Forever Entertainment ever hinted at such a version.
The House of the Dead Remake is available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The game will be coming to PlayStation 5 on January 20, 2023.
